DARLINGTON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL NHS TRUST

Darlington Memorial Hospital (DMH) is a medium sized District General Hospital located in the southern part of County Durham. It provides a common range of clinical and diagnostic services. The Trust serves a population of circa 120,000, over a geographical area of 470 square miles, which consists of two constituent parts; the eastern part around Darlington and the western part of the Tees Valley. The DMH Trust contains all acute services and sub regional services are provided in the specialities of ENT and Ophthalmology. There is an onsite Dialysis Centre managed from South Cleveland Hospital, Middlesbrough and an MRI has been operational on site from August 1996. A CT scanning service is also available on site.

The Hospital became a NHS Trust Hospital on 1 April 1994. It currently employs approximately 1500 staff covering a wide range of professions.

The Hospital has recently opened a new dedicated Day Surgery Unit (DSU) which has been purpose built to facilitate the holistic management of day case patients using staff training for this purpose.
