PRINCE PHILIP HOSPITAL

Prince Philip Hospital, the Trust's general hospital, has 209 beds and provides a broad range of medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. The Trust also manages 3 small cottage hospitals comprising 26, 30, and 40 beds. The cottage hospitals are currently in the process of changing their function to become community health service centres, with the in-patient beds being used to provide intensive rehabilitation. As part of this process we are currently reviewing models of care, staff training needs, clinical recording and mechanisms for delivering effective multidisciplinary care with the aim of developing structured care pathways.

Departments are configured to support free communication between professional groups, with a move towards shared treatment areas i.e. active promotion of joint treatment between Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and/or Chiropody.

There are active out-patient Physiotherapy services at two hospital sites, with a gradual move towards G.P. Practice based working.
