Infection Control
The Infection Control Team (ICT) comprises an Infection Control Doctor, two Infection
Control Nurses and a secretary. The team provides a service to Swindon and Marlborough
NHS Trust (Acute) and East Wiltshire Health Care NHS Trust (Community) and its key
functions include: training and education, policy review and development, advice and
outbreak management. A structured Infection Control Link Nurse network is in place to
provide a network to improve communication and dissemination of infection control
advice throughout both Trusts. Currently there are 50 named ICLNs who actively support
and participate in the annual infection control programme. The efficiency and
effectiveness of the network has been well demonstrated through the audit process.
